Expanding Opportunities to Connect for Young Families in the Community

BackgroundTemple Shalom

Temple Sholom is a welcoming and inclusive Jewish Reform Congregation in Delaware County, PA.  It offers a wide range of religious, cultural and outreach program,s including a very popular pre-school and inclusion for interfaith families.

What We Do

Ed Satell recognized that becoming a member of a religious congregation can be a very expensive commitment.  To enable young families to belong and enjoy the unique, warm and vibrant temple community, Ed Satell, through the Satell Family Foundation and the Progressive Business Publications Charitable Trust, established an endowment program, the Satell Family Growth & Development Fund.   This significant endowment is used to give “scholarships” to help pay a substantial part of the annual fees and dues for young families and to help fund costs for families that have fallen on hard times.

The Satell Family Fund has helped enable the temple to grow in spite of difficult economic times.  Families are thrilled to have the opportunity to participate, and their memberships help to create a more vibrant environment.

In addition, Ed funded scholarships for several years which allow the young people of the confirmation class to experience Israel for themselves.

In 2006, Ed accepted the “Visionary of Sholom” award, honoring his commitment to the temple and his vision for growing this community.
